Mondays March 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th 6:30 - 8:30PM

Mindfulness-based meditation is not a religious code as much as it is a social psychology that supports experiences of well-being. - Ruth King (Author of Mindful Race)

This four-week course will introduce you to secular mindfulness meditation. We will get a brief overview of the historically background and the fundamentals of how to start a mindfulness meditation practice. We will explore how this practice can cultivate balance, peace and support at times that are very challenging and difficult to navigate. This series will give you a fresh perspective to an already stressful life during these chaotic times.

The objective is how to address fluctuating mental states of fear, anxiety and other negative or positives mental states that arise by fostering awareness as a tool for creating a clear, less receptive behaviors and develop qualities of the heart to can promote balance and beauty.





EBMC TEACHERS ARE NOT PAID BY THE CENTER. You are invited to offer a voluntary financial gift to them at the class. The East Bay Meditation Center operates using a generosity-based, gift economics model. This means we charge no set registration fees to attend our events and instead rely on the generous giving of our community. All classes at the Center do come with a financial cost. Class participants are offered an opportunity to make a voluntary gift to EBMC during the registration process or at an event itself. Please note that no one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you would like to explore any EBMC volunteer positions, please send an email expressing your interest to admin@eastbaymeditation.org.

In order to protect the health of community members with environmental illness, please do not wear fragranced products (including natural fragrances) or clothes laundered in fragranced products to EBMC.

East Bay Meditation Center strives to be as accessible as possible. For the safety of our teachers, staff, volunteers and participants, we cannot provide assistance for personal needs such as transferring into and out of chairs, walking, eating, or using the restroom. If you require such assistance, you must bring a personal care assistant with you when you come to any event at EBMC.





Teacher Bio:

Carol Cano began her practice 30 years ago at Wat Kow Tahm in Thailand and has actively engaged in building communities and teaching Dharma internationally. She has completed a myriad of training programs at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and is currently participating in their Retreat Teacher Training. Carol is a core teacher and was a former board member of East Bay Meditation Center. Her unique teachings are deeply grounded in Basque, Native American and Buddhist influences that braid the Dharma along indigenous wisdom and Earth-based practices. Carol reminds us to keep grounded in our hearts as we uphold spiritual ideals and encourages us to remain balanced within the demands of modern life.
